Dental Implants

This patient had many broken down teeth. All the teeth were extracted and six implants placed in the upper at the same time. After the healing phase of 4 months, three seperate bridges were made and screwed into the implants.
Now he has a full set of fixed teeth to chew with which is much more effective and comfortable than a removable pink colour denture.

This elderly patient broke his old bridge for front teeth. The only option was to have a denture or implants. Making a bridge again was not an option as there were no strong front teeth for support. The patient chose to have fixed teeth so three implants were placed. A fixed Bridge was placed in 4 months giving confidence to the patient due to his new strong front teeth. This can last for many many years

The lower front teeth are the weakest of all teeth. In this case the lower front teeth were shaking. They were removed and two implants were placed and a fixed Bridge was placed.

It is a big help for the patient to have fixed teeth rather than a removal denture especially the front teeth when the patient is young.
This patients front tooth broke and only the root was left behind. The root was extracted and at the same time an implant was placed where the root was originally.  3 months later after the healing phase the stump (an abutment) was placed over the implant and a ceramic crown was placed over it.
Now we have a strong stand alone fixed tooth. The tooth behind the implant required a normal ceramic crown.

This patient had an accident and broke his front tooth. The patient was a young man so there was no option of giving him a removal plastic denture. He wanted to have a fixed tooth. Giving a bridge with the support of the adjacent teeth was not considered. Having a fixed implant crown is a much better and longer lasting option. An implant was placed and in 4 months time a fixed stump (abutment) was placed and ceramic Crown place over that. During the 4 months a temporary cap was given to make it look aesthetic.

There are times when the removable denture is loose which makes it very embarrassing for the patient where the denture falls off or becomes loose while eating or talking. A solution for that is to place two implants on either side and have a ball abutment which is a Press button type of attachment on which the denture will sit. This makes the deenture into a semi fixed kind of denture which will not move while eating or talking. That is a big relief to the patient.

When the edge of the tooth is chipped the composite restoration needs to be reinforced , so a pin is put in the tooth and the restoration is done around it. This helps in strengthening the  restoration.
